Restricting a Discount Join Option to Specific Affiliates

You can offer a promotional or discounted join option to only one affiliate, or to a selected group of affiliates, by creating the discount as its own Join Option and controlling visibility with Join Option Rules.

In NATS, Join Options belong to a site, but their availability can be controlled by rules. A Join Option rule can target:

  • Tour

  • Program

  • Affiliate

  • Country

  • Biller

Step 1: Create the Discount Join Option

  1. Navigate to the Sites Admin, select a Site, select the Join Options tab, and click Add Site Option.

  1. Create a new Join Option for the promotional price.

  2. Configure the fields as needed: Join Form Text, Initial Cost, Initial Days, Recurring Cost, Recurring Days, and Biller details.

Step 2: Open the Join Option Rules

  1. After saving the Join Option, open the new option.

  2. Navigate to the Rules tab.

  3. Click Add New.

Step 3: Add a SHOW Rule for the Approved Affiliate

Create a rule with the following configuration:

  • Change Type: SHOW

  • Start Time: Now, or the desired start date

  • End Time: Forever, or the desired expiration date

  • Tour: Select the Tour

  • Affiliate: Select the affiliate allowed to promote this option

  • Program / Country / Biller: Leave as ALL unless you need further restrictions

Save the rule. This makes the discounted Join Option available only when the surfer comes through that affiliate and matches the selected tour rule.

Allowing Multiple Affiliates

To allow more than one affiliate, you can either add multiple affiliates in the same rule (if your rule selector supports multiple targets) or create one SHOW rule per affiliate using the same tour and pricing setup.

Example Setup:

Rule
Change Type
Tour
Affiliate

Rule 1

SHOW

Standard Tour

Affiliate A

Rule 2

SHOW

Mobile Tour

Affiliate A

Rule 3

SHOW

Standard Tour

Affiliate B

Rule 4

SHOW

Mobile Tour

Affiliate B

If the same affiliates should access the discount on both the Standard and Mobile tours, you can target both tours in the same rule where supported.

Optional: Use a Special Program for a Group of Affiliates

If this discount applies to a larger group of affiliates, consider creating a dedicated manual enrollment program.

  1. Go to Programs Admin, then click Create New Program.

  2. Set the program to manual enrollment, then add only the affiliates who should receive access.

  3. Target the special program in the Join Option rule.

This is helpful when you also need special payouts for the discounted offer.

Important Rule Behavior

Also, remember that empty rule target fields default broadly, so only leave a field empty when you intentionally want it to apply to all values for that field.

Testing

Before giving the affiliate the promo link, test the join page using:

  • An approved affiliate link

  • A non-approved affiliate link

  • The Standard Tour

  • The Mobile Tour

  • Any expiration date or country/biller restrictions you added

The discounted Join Option should only appear for the approved affiliate or affiliate group for the intended tour(s).
