# Handling Smarty Email Error

When attempting to send an email, you or your recipients receive an email or a log warning containing the following Smarty error message:

Warning: Smarty error: unable to read resource: "var:body" in /var/www/nats/Smarty-2.6.7/libs/Smarty.class.php on line 1083
```

This error occurs when an email template was created or queued in the Mass Mailing Admin without any body content (the email body is completely empty).

To resolve this:

1. Navigate to the [Mailing Management](/nats-admin/mass-mailing/mailing-management.md) page.
2. Select the Email producing the error.
3. Ensure both the Plain Text and/or HTML body fields contain content.
4. Save your changes, then resend or test the mailing.
