What are Content Servers?

When you upload Content to the CMS, it is stored in your Content Server. This is where all your content is stored and is pulled from when visitors view your Tour or Member Area. Depending on how you have set up your files and directories, this may or may not be the same server you have your NATS installed on.

Local Content Storage

When you first activate the CMS, your Content will be stored in the same location as your NATS server, allowing you to start using all features immediately. This is fine to upload a few content to sets but we recommend switching to an Object Storage solution.

Content is stored directly on your NATS server at the following path:

/nats/www/cms_images/cms_data/

Object Storage

Using a separate server from your NATS server to store your content, specifically a server with Object Storage capabilities for more efficient storage. The added benefit you gain by using a separate server is faster performance.

How is Content Served?

Content from your Content Server is served using a CDN. You can choose to serve it through signed or unsigned URLs from Apache or through MojoHost CDN. Once Content has been uploaded to NATS, it will be processed by the CMS Worker, a script that transcodes your videos into the available formats you have specified in the Formats section of the CMS. Once the content has been processed, it will be sent to the Content Server for efficient storage where it will be delivered from.
